Atrium Health Offers Drive
Getting the flu vaccine this year is increasingly important as the 2021-2022 flu season will continue to collide with the COVID-19 pandemic. To help families have more convenient and safe options for everyone to get their flu vaccine together this year, Atrium Health will be holding drive-up vaccine clinics at 30+ primary care practice locations on Saturday, October 9th. Individuals of all ages, from six months through adulthood, are eligible to be vaccinated.
Below is a list of participating office locations and addresses. All locations will be offering drive-up flu vaccines 9:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m.
Appointments are recommended to be vaccinated, but vaccines will be available for those without an appointment as well. You do not need to be an existing Atrium Health patient anyone can make an appointment.
Most insurance companies cover the cost of the flu vaccine in full. Children who receive state vaccine and are under 19 years old, are self-pay or on Medicaid will need to receive their flu vaccine at their primary care providers office. Specific questions regarding billing or eligibility can be asked when calling to make an appointment.
Appointments are recommended. Here are the ways to schedule:
- Adult patients: adults can schedule by calling their primary care office.
- Pediatric patients: the easiest and most efficient way to schedule is via MyAtriumHealth . You can also call your childs pediatricians office.
- Non-patients : please schedule by calling 704-468-0102
Treatment Might Help Those Most At Risk
Many people get over the flu without treatment. If youre at high risk for flu complications, your provider may prescribe antiviral medicines. These medicines may ease your symptoms and shorten the time youre sick. They work best if you take them soon after your symptoms begin. At home, these self-care tips may help:
-
Drink plenty of fluids. If you get dehydrated, your fever might go up.
-
Go to bed earlier than usual. This can reduce stress and help you fight your infection.
-
Use a cool mist vaporizer or take hot, steamy showers. This can help with cough or congestion.
