We have built a simple vaccination experience where customers appreciate the convenience and safety.

The company says people are increasingly intending to get their flu shot, with 71% saying theyre definitely or most likely going to get it this season, according to a CVS survey.

CVS will have flu shots available seven days a week, with the intention to expand evening and weekend hours.

How Does The Flu Shot Work

The flu shot is an inactivated flu virus that teaches your immune system to recognize the virus and clear it if you are infected. The flu shot is safe and widely available.

While the flu is common, it can be serious. Getting a flu shot is especially important for groups who are at higher risk for major complications, including:

  • Those who are pregnant

Flu Shots Now Available at CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic

CVS Health announced Aug. 25, 2020 that flu shots are now available at CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic. The CDC recommends the vaccine be administered no later than the end of October.

CVS Health announced in an Aug. 25 news release that flu shots are now available at CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic.

CVS Health advised in the release that with the ongoing health impacts of COVID-19 on local communities, it is more important than ever to stay current with vaccinations and other routine health care needs. Taking proactive measures like getting a flu shot this fall to improve general health and immunity, will protect individuals and families against seasonal flu, help safeguard the overall health of the community and minimize the impact on health care resources.

Recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggest that individuals make plans to get vaccinated early in the fall, before flu season begins, and ideally no later than the end of October, the release said.

We know our patients and customers are doing everything they can to keep their families as healthy as possible, while minimizing potential exposure to the flu and COVID-19, said Jon Roberts, chief operating officer, CVS Health. Because it can take two weeks for the vaccine to build immunity, we encourage all of our patients to get their shot in September or early October, before flu season peaks, the release quoted.

CVS Health and one of its main competitors, Walgreens, were also designated in October as part of the federal government program Operation Warp Speed to distribute and administer COVID-19 vaccines to residents of long-term care facilities for free.

CVS Health has experience going into long-term facilities to administer seasonal flu shots every year, which Merlo said will help in distributing the COVID-19 vaccine, hopefully within the next few weeks.

“This is a process that is not new for us,” he said.

How Much Do Vaccines Cost At Minuteclinic

MinuteClinic is a walk-in clinic that provides health screenings, treatment for common illnesses, and vaccinations for children, teens, and adults. Its located inside more than 1,100 CVS Pharmacy and Target locations in 33 states and Washington, D.C.

At MinuteClinic, the rules are a little different than at CVS Pharmacy. First, MinuteClinic doesnt offer COVID-19 vaccines. Many clinics still accept walk-ins, but some require appointments during the pandemic.

Lastly, unlike CVS Pharmacy, where pharmacists give shots, MinuteClinic is staffed by medical providers. That means a nurse practitioner or physician assistant will deliver your immunization instead of a pharmacist.

MinuteClinic accepts most insurance plans and lists its prices on its website. The prices represent the fee for a vaccine only. If you end up discussing other healthcare concerns during your vaccine appointment, you also may be charged for a separate medical visit.

Here are MinuteClinic cash prices for some of the most commonly requested vaccines, including:

CVS Health, owner of Longs Drugs in Hawaii, announced Wednesday that flu shots are now available at all pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations.

Walmart is also offering low-cost flu vaccinations at nine Walmart pharmacies through walk-up and community flu shot clinics.

Although the nation continues to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, both CVS and Walmart are reminding Americans of the importance of getting a flu shot this fall to protect themselves against seasonal flu.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people get vaccinated early in the fall before flu season begins ideally, no later than the end of October. Cvs Health Preparing For Flu Season Amid Covid

INDIANA – With many Americans focused on coronavirus vaccines, health leaders are also reminding people to not forget about annual flu shots.

It may only be September, but officials with CVS Health say flu season is right around the corner.

Dr. Michelle Del Busto is a pharmacy manager with CVS Health. She says its not too early to get your shot.

The vaccine changes slightly, just like the virus does., says Dr. Del Busto. Just because you got one last year does not mean you are protected this year.

Also, this year is the threat of contracting the flu on top of the coronavirus. Its a concern that Dr. Del Busto says actually helped flu season in 2020.

We did probably twice as many flu vaccines in our stores than we did the year before, says Dr. Del Busto.

As a reminder, a COVID-19 vaccine does not protect you from the flu and vice versa.

They are two different things, says Dr. Del Busto. You really need two vaccinations one for COVID and one for flu, and you can get them at the same time.

Dr. Del Busto says anyone six months and older should get a flu shot. She says it will be even more important this year, compared to 2020.

Last year, we had the lockdowns at the time we were giving flu vaccines, says Dr. Del Busto. We had people who were wearing masks, social distancing, really getting the hang of washing our hands all the time. Well now, we have a little bit of that mask fatigue. We dont have the lockdowns.

‘people Do Need To Be Patient’

Bodnar said there doesn’t seem to be any threat of doses running out in the province, but it’s something to watch.

“We didn’t run out last year, in fact we had lots left over last year and then they’ve ordered more this year,” she said.

Bodnar said the pharmacy association has been told by Public Health that the doses should arrive the week of Thanksgiving.

However, she stresses that this is only the first shipment and that the supply is staggered over several weeks.

“People do need to be patient,” Bodnar said.

“Pharmacists are doing the best they can, they don’t control the flu supply. They will give out everything they have and they will do it as quickly as they can.”

“Since the pandemic hit, we have increased our 2020/2021 order for Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine by about 5% more than what we had initially anticipated needing this year. We have the opportunity to request more vaccine, if needed.”

Flu shot line of patients

As Connecticut waits for the first shipments of a COVID-19 vaccine, CVS Health Corp. said it is ready with the necessary cold storage at its 180 pharmacies in Connecticut and long experience in providing annual flu shots.

Walgreens, another major pharmacy in Connecticut, also is gearing up to provide the shots at its locations in the state.

Under agreements with the federal government, both pharmacy giants are expected to play a major role in delivering the vaccine to the general public in the months ahead. In addition to providing vaccines at its retail pharmacies, CVS and Walgreens will administer shots to all of the states 22,000 nursing home and assisted living residents. This could begin as early as late next week.

CVS, which owns Hartford-based health insurer Aetna, said the vaccine could become generally available in its pharmacies across the country as soon as late March. But how quickly it will be distributed to the general public will depend on timetables established by individual states.

CVS said it will draw on its experience providing flu shots annually in its pharmacies, an increasing number now being reconfigured to include HealthHubs, a larger space in its pharmacies containing MinuteClinics devoted to patient health care.

Cvs Health Reminds Americans To Get Their Flu Shot During National Influenza Vaccination Week

Eligible adults and children can simultaneously schedule one appointment for their flu and COVID-19 vaccinations at CVS.com or on the CVS App

WOONSOCKET, R.I., Dec. 6, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — CVS Health marks National Influenza Vaccination Week by reminding everyone that it’s not too late to get a flu shot. As the country continues the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, a flu shot remains the most effective way to protect against seasonal flu and is an important step individuals and families can take to help safeguard the overall health of the community and minimize the impact on strained health care resources.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established National Influenza Immunization Week in 2005 to highlight the importance of flu vaccinations through the holiday season and into the New Year, when flu activity is typically at its peak. In a survey conducted by CVS Health1, nearly three quarters of Americans say they plan to get a flu shot this year, with 45 percent planning on getting their vaccine at a retail pharmacy. It is possible that flu viruses and the virus that causes COVID-19 will both be circulating at the same time over the next few months, therefore it is more important than ever to get vaccinated.

CVS Health enables families to easily schedule their flu and COVID-19 vaccines together at CVS Pharmacy via CVS.com or through the CVS App. Patients may also schedule an immunization appointment with a MinuteClinic provider at Minuteclinic.com.

Cvs To Hire 25000 Workers To Boost Flu Shots And Covid

CVS Health Corp. announced Monday its hiring 25,000 clinical and retail workers to respond to demand for COVID-19 vaccinations and testing and an expected spike in the flu this fall and winter.

Most of the available jobs are for full-time, part-time and temporary licensed pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians and nurses at CVS Pharmacy locations. The jobs will be filled as soon as possible, CVS said. A national career fair is scheduled for Friday.

Other jobs include retail store employees who work with customers and manage inventory.

In addition to flu vaccinations, the accelerated hiring will help CVS administer COVID-19 booster shots, pending regulatory approval, while continuing to offer COVID-19 shots.

Every flu season we need additional team members, but this year, were looking for even more, said Neela Montgomery, president of CVS Pharmacy.

The nationwide hiring represents the latest drive by CVS, the parent company of Hartford-based Aetna, to attract workers in a labor market characterized by too-few job candidates. CVS announced last month it will raise its minimum hourly wage to $15 starting July 2022, with incremental increases to the companys competitive hourly rates that have already been hiked.

About two-thirds of employees earning hourly wages are paid more than $15 an hour. The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour and in Connecticut, its $13.
