To get a Target flu shot, visit any location with a CVS Pharmacy or MinuteClinic. You can either walk-in or make an appointment at the CVS website, on the CVS app, or by texting FLU to 287898. You can also fill out a consent form online.
Your confirmation email will contain a link you can use to check in once you get to the store. Most insurance plans, including Medicare Part B, cover the cost of flu vaccines.

This year the flu and Covid-19 are circulating simultaneously, which makes the flu shot even more imperative.
“Influenza is a respiratory virus, like Covid-19,” says Beth Oller, MD, a practicing family physician in Stockton, Kansas. “We need to do everything we can this year to minimize having outbreaks of both viruses occurring at the same time.” If your immune system is already under stress from one virus, you may be more susceptible to the other virus. This could potentially produce a more severe infection, she adds.

Target will offer guests Quadrivalent, Trivalent and High Dose. In addition, FluMist will be available later this month. All vaccines are also available in preservative-free options.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that anyone older than 6 months of age be vaccinated against the flu. Influenza vaccination is important to the health and safety of everyone, but especially to those who are at high-risk of infection and developing serious complications from the flu. Vulnerable populations include children, pregnant women, and elderly individuals.
At Target, trained pharmacists and/or nurse practitioners administer flu vaccines, with no appointment necessary. Target guests can also pick up the products they need for the cold and flu season, such as antibacterial hand sanitizers, tissues, and chicken noodle soup.

Target is joining the growing list of companies offering incentives to Americans to get out and get their COVID shot.
The retailer, in partnership with CVS, will provide customers and employees who receive their COVID vaccine at a Target store a $5 coupon to be used in stores.
CVS is Targets pharmacy partner, offering the COVID vaccine to the public at the retailers locations.
To receive a $5 Target coupon, vaccine recipients will need to make a vaccination appointment at their local Target store and get their COVID shot at the store, where they will then receive the coupon following their inoculation.
According to Target, vaccine appointments are available at nearly all CVS at Target locations and can be scheduled at CVS.com.
Target is just one of several companies that are offing perks to get the COVID vaccine.
Both Budweiser and Samuel Adams have said they will buy vaccine recipients their first beer with proof of vaccination.

Will The Vaccines Be Effective Against New Covid
Mutations are making COVID-19 better at latching onto human cells. This makes it spread more easily from person to person. It requires a smaller amount of virus and less time in the same room with an infected person for someone to catch the mutated coronavirus.

How Effective Is The Vaccine
The flu vaccine is usually 40 to 60 percent effective, says the CDC, although this depends on how well it matches the virus strains circulating in any given season. When Are Flu Shots Available For 2022
Flu shots are typically available from September to May, although the timing can vary depending on the specific region of the United States.
When I inquired about flu shot availability in Atlanta, Georgia, in mid-August, many pharmacies told me that they had yet to receive the new batches and told me to check back on September 1. When I called the pharmacies again in the second week of September, flu shots were in full supply.

Can You Get The Flu Shot At The Same Time As A Covid
Although data on receiving the COVID vaccine at the same time as the influenza vaccine is limited, the CDC advises that its safe to do so. Research is ongoing, but one study among healthcare workers found that the flu shot offered some protection against severe forms of COVID-19. But because they are two different viruses, you should be vaccinated against each one to be fully protected. Getting the flu shot will not interfere with the effects of the COVID-19 vaccine, and you dont have to disclose whether youve been vaccinated for COVID-19 if you dont want to.
In the instance that youre experiencing flu symptoms or youve tested positive for COVID-19, you should wait until recovering and completing your isolation period before getting a flu or COVID-19 shot. For mild symptoms and a negative COVID-19 test, its okay to go ahead and get vaccinated for the flu or COVID-19.
